Designed and developed a tracking system using QR codes. This helps to identify
and allow entry only for authorised vehicles. It also logs vehicle movement details.

Introduction

Our client has deep rooted presence in the countries where ingredients are available and is involved at every stage of their supply chains. Our client supplies products and ingredients at scale.

When sales orders are processed in a sub-optimal way it can lead to errors, additional costs and poor relationship with customers. So our client was looking at automating the Sales Order Process. He needs an order management tool to streamline orders from initial acceptance, through order approval, invoice generation, inventory control and to final delivery.

The Client

Our Client is one of the leading agri food companies in Ghana with customers all over the world.

The Challenge

The client source goods through their farmer network and process them before exporting to international markets. The client has warehouses in Ghana for storage and distribution of these goods. The details of vendor trucks entering and exiting the client’s warehouses were captured manually and were logged in their system. As the logging process was manual, it is an error prone task with some loopholes which leave scope for fraud. The client wanted to check this and regulate it by digitising the entire process.

The Solution

We had come up with a detailed design for digitising the logging of truck movement.

The challenge here was to restrict the entry of unauthorized trucks.

After some brainstorming, we had come up with the idea of using QR codes to identify each truck. We had developed an application that captures and stores truck details like vendor name, vehicle number, driver name, and other information and maps it to a QR code. Each truck is given a unique QR code that is linked to its corresponding truck details. This code is stuck on the truck.

We also approached a vendor to make QR code stickers that cannot be tampered with. Damaged or tampered stickers need to be replaced after approval from admin.

We had also developed a mobile app that scans QR code on the truck and checks it authenticity. Entry of unauthorized trucks can thus be restricted.
